Volunteers cleaning up Gardiners Creek for over 26 years

SUNDAY, 2nd March 2025
Gardiners Creek, between TH KING Oval and Tooronga Road, Glen Iris and surrounds
14 volunteers collected 19 CUAD bags of rubbish plus many larger items.
15 x CUAD (70 litre) bags of compressed general rubbish. 15 x 70 litres = 1050 litres of general rubbish. (soft plastic, hard plastic, polystyrene foam, footwear, clothing, coffee cups and lids, etc.)
4 x CUAD (70 litre) bags of uncompressed recyclables. 4 x 70 litres = 280 litres of recyclables. (50% of recyclables had a 10 cent Container Deposit Scheme symbol and a visible barcode.)
1 x ALDI shopping trolley (which was at least three kilometers from home)
2 x fluorescent tubes
1 x wooden pallet
1 x scooter
Irrigation piping
Industrial-grade electrical cable
Heaps of balls (tennis, golf & soccer) and a table tennis bat
Additional larger items were SNAP SEND SOLVEd by the volunteer team.

AND WE DID NOT GET ALL OF IT !
Thanks to the City of Stonnington for promptly picking up the rubbish the following morning from the pre-booked pick-up point at Elm Road.
Recyclables will be cleaned, sorted and delivered to a Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) Collection Point. Recyclables outside the CDS will go into the City of Boroondara domestic recycling system.
