Volunteers & Members

*** WORKING BEES HAVE RESUMED ***

Wednesday and Sunday working bees have resumed following revised Victorian Government COVID-19 health guidelines.

Picture is illustrative! Please observe social distancing at all times during working bees.

The best way to help regenerate the indigenous landscape of Gardiners Creek is to volunteer at one of our regular working bees! These run for 2 hours and you don’t need to be a member to participate! Details below.

Special events

Glen Iris Wetlands Nature Walk (City Nature Challenge)
Sunday 2nd May 9:00am – 11:00am.
Booking is required.

In 2021, Stonnington is joining forces with Boroondara, Greater Dandenong, Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash and Whitehorse councils to participate in the City Nature Challenge for the first time!

Help us compete in this global citizen science challenge with hundreds of cities from around the world by taking pictures of wild plants, animals, insects and fungi between 30 April to the 3 May 2021 using the iNaturalist app/website. Species observations recorded through the iNaturalist app will contribute to real scientific databases and help us better understand and protect the wild plants and animals that live in our city.

Anyone can participate by using the app during the 4-day bioblitz, or by joining one of the free Stonnington nature walk events.

Learn more about using iNaturalist and contributing to citizen science by attending our free iNaturalist training webinar with ecologist Dr Luis Mata co-hosted by the City of Boroondara on 20 April 6.30-7.45pm.
